I highly recommend the group sessions that Sonya and Julie host every week. The one hour group sessions are invaluable.  Julie, Sonya, and group members provide strategies to deal with situations that come up in everyday life. I am sure that you will not be disappointed if you attend the group sessions. We are fortunate to have this additional support offered to us. Although the fee may seem daunting, you should consider investing in yourself to help develop strategies for long-term weight loss success.

Coach Sonya is an awesome motivator and has been the main ingredient to my health and weight loss. She’s funny, and also an inspiration. You never feel alone on this journey because Sonya is beside you every step of the way.  Julie is a counselor and certified addiction specialist. She also plays an important role by leading an Emotional Support Group. I’ve learned my behavioral, emotional and mental habits have negatively influenced my relationship with food. With Sonya and Julie working together, I’ve experienced personal growth, and positive changes. I’ve been transformed physically, mentally and emotionally. I’m no longer hiding in shame behind a fake number on my drivers license.

Attending the emotional eating groups for the last year has been one of the main reasons I have been able to maintain my weight loss. Most of my life has been a continuous cycle of losing weight and then gaining the weight right back, plus more. These groups have helped me understand how to break that cycle. Failing in the area of weight loss isn’t new to me. My self-esteem was in the gutter after many attempts of weight loss, weight maintenance and then regain. When I learned about a support group where other people going through the same thing would be present, I was intrigued. I needed support and to know I wasn’t alone on this journey. Julie provides so much useful information as well as support and positive feedback. Learning from her and hearing Sonya’s own struggles has been so helpful not to mention the friendships I’ve made with other group members. This group provides so much extra support and encouragement. Not Just Groupies...Now Friends

In March 2021, I started Losin’ It with Sonya Jones. After about a month, I started attending the group meetings.  It was nice to meet others who were struggling with the same issues I was struggling with. It was good to know that I wasn’t alone!  The people that I have met though attending the group have become my tribe, my supporters, and my friends. Julie has certainly given all of us some helpful information to use in our daily lives and to overcome emotional obstacles that we face. Sonya is always there coaching us with great advice and they both give us new perspectives to look at our situations. I feel that the group meetings are a safe place to talk about anything that is holding us back. I certainly know that through these groups, I got through many obstacles (like the death of my mother) that in the past would have led me to self-destructing behaviors. Thank you, Sonya and Julie, for taking care of all of your clients in body, mind and spirit!

I would like to take this opportunity to recommend group meetings that Sonya and Julie host. I was skeptical about joining a group of strangers and discussing something as personal as my eating habits. I am so very thankful that Sonya highly suggested going to at least one session to try it out. I met Julie Ponder who leads the group. Julie leads each meeting with a structured format that directs each person to think about the “Why” they do what they do. You do not have to share your personal information.  However, sharing information and dilemmas has been helpful personally. Other group members also share their suggestions, solutions, or concerns. There is no judgment. Actually, there is much laughter and comradery. This group that I once called strangers has become a group of friends that share a common spirit. We are there for one another throughout the week. There are so many highs and lows in this food journey just as there are in life. It is my opinion that the group setting is an essential motivational factor in this weight loss and management program. I now look forward to our weekly group meeting.
